Zwei Kinder als gezeichnetes Portrait mit Fotovorlagen – Sketchus Motivbeispiel

A gift for Dad: turn a shared experience into the subject

A walk, a day trip, or time in the garden can make a more personal starting point than a generic saying about fathers. Search your photos for a shared experience, while keeping Dad's face clearly visible.

Choose the memory before the object

Think of something you both remember fondly. It need not be a major vacation; a regular walk can matter just as much. Choose the experience first, then find a suitable photo instead of assigning meaning to a random image.

Balance the person and the setting

If most of the photo shows mountains, a motorcycle, or a large garden, the face may be too small. Consider a closer crop. Explain which objects must stay, but do not assume every background detail needs to be included.

Ask which photo he likes

A surprise is optional. Show Dad two or three photos and ask for his preference. An older picture that seems funny to you may not be one he wants on the wall. Choosing together does not make the gift less personal.

Pair the picture with another outing

A simple invitation to a similar activity can accompany the gift. Suggest a date on the card without an elaborate presentation. The portrait recalls an existing experience; the invitation makes space for another. Promise only what you can organize.

Before you decide

  • A real shared experience chosen
  • Face sufficiently visible
  • Important background details identified
  • Dad's preferences considered

Real artists create the artwork by hand. Choose from the finishes offered on the product page: an art print reproduces the artist’s work, while an original is the physical original drawing.
